Even a traditional denture can provide a huge improvement in the quality of life of a patient compared to no teeth or no denture at all. And while there are limitations to a traditional denture, it can be a huge benefit, especially when we talk about being able to chew our food. It opens up the door completely to the types of food you can eat and the nutrients you can provide your body when you have back teeth, even if they’re in the forms of traditional dentures, whether that’s a complete denture or a partial denture.
And being able to have a denture as opposed to going without anything at all really allows the patient to chew more food, eat more types of food, but also it provides a shape and volume to their face. Oftentimes, patients will come to me that maybe it’s been missing their teeth for a while and they complain about how they feel like their cheeks are starting to sink in a little bit or the volume of their face has just kind of gone away over time. And the teeth can provide that.
And so when we lose our teeth, it kind of gives this more aged look and patients sometimes will want solutions for that. And so dentures can be a good option not only to provide teeth to help them to chew and to get back some of the quality of life they have, but also it provides them more of a youthful look, more of a volume in their face that gives them confidence to go about their day.

During your consultation, Dr. Menard will review your options, including whether you are a candidate for dental implants. These artificial tooth roots are essential for a stronger bite and better jawbone health. You may even be a candidate for a same-day smile! Imagine leaving our office in one appointment with a complete set of new teeth secured to implants.
Depending on your unique needs and goals, he may recommend:
- Traditional Dentures – These removable partial or full arch dentures stay in place with adhesive.
- Snap-On Dentures – Your dentures will be removable, but snap into place on implants for a more secure fit. No adhesive is needed! Unlike traditional dentures, they will also keep you from losing bone mass in your jaw.
- Implant-Supported Dentures – We’ll anchor your dentures to standard or mini implants to keep them in place. You’ll take care of them just like natural teeth.
- Implant Dentures – Your new teeth will be secured to implants with this modern alternative to traditional implant techniques. It replaces a complete arch of teeth in your upper or lower jaw using as few as five implants.
We’ll use 3-D digital X-rays to capture images of your mouth and scan impressions of your teeth. Then we’ll send the information to an off-site lab to create your dentures. If you are moving forward with implants, Dr. Menard will place them and give you a set of temporary dentures to wear. You’ll return again once your new teeth are ready.
